Assistive communication in hospitals
Help children in hospitals
When others do not understand you, fear and pain grow.
Hospital stay is a stressful experience for children. But for girls and boys with complex communication needs (children with autism, cerebral palsy, and intellectual or speech disabilities), who have dificulties expressing what they feel and think, a hospital treatment or stay is extremely challenging.
Assistive communication can significantly help children with developmental disabilities during these stressful times. Picture cards, communication boards and tablets enable healthcare workers to better communicate with the most vulnerable children, which reduces frustration and fear in children and greatly facilitates examinations and treatment.

Donate and help ensure better communication with the most vulnerable children and their parents in hospitals!
Your donation will help children:
- by implementation of assistive communication project in two hospitals, and subsequent expansion to a larger number of hospitals in Croatia
- with procurement of equipment for assistive communication for hospitals (communication boards, tablets and other communication aids)
- by developing materials about medical procedures adapted to children’s needs
- by educating healthcare workers on assistive and general communication with children and parents.
Thank you!
